Allowing Hindus to worship at Jnanvapi Masjid is illegal; Owaisi questioned the court verdict

Varanasi: Varanasi Hindus have been accused of allowing Hindus to offer prayers in the south basement of the Jnanvapi Masjid. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi termed the order as a violation of the Places of Worship Act. He alleged that it was wrong to allow worship inside the ‘Vyas ka Tekhana’ area inside the mosque complex.

Meanwhile, after three decades of waiting, the lamp was lit in Jnanvapi. The soil of Mahakaleshwar was blessed with mantras. The priest appointed by the Kashi Trust performed the Aarti at the court sanctioned place around 3 am today.

Before the puja began, Varanasi District Magistrate S Rajalinga and Police Commissioner Ashok Mutta Jain called a meeting around midnight. The meeting, which lasted for about two hours, was convened in a hall in the premises of Kashi Vishwanath Dham. Then the district administration took steps to implement the court order smoothly. The area inside the barricades was cleared to allow smooth access to the south vault, ensuring uninterrupted observance of puja rituals in the south vault.
