New Delhi: Central government with new guidelines for appointment and promotionof sportspersons . This is according to the importance of recent sporting events. Apart from this, the benefits for those who show good performance in sports competitions have also been increased.
Comprehensive instructions in this regard have been issued by the Department of Personal Training. The instructions issued on October 3, 2013 have now been revised. Necessary changes have been made in consultation with the Ministry of Sports. The national championships and tournaments recognized by the sports federation are organized by the Indian Olympic Association under the leadership of Khelo India University, Khelo India Youth Games, Khelo India Winter Games, Khelo India Paragames etc.
Candidates who have represented the state or country and participated in national or international competitions or won medals in Junior National Championships or India Youth Games will be considered for appointments. Medal winners of School Games Federation (DoPT) will also be considered for appointment.
Grand Master, International Grand Master, Title Winners in Chess Competitions and Medal Winners in National Team Chess Championships will be considered for appointment. Athletes with good performance will also be considered for appointment.
Players who stand first in international competitions will be appointed with the permission of the Sports Ministry. Copies of this order have been sent to all Union Ministries and Departments.
Those who have represented the state or central government in national competitions in senior and junior categories will also be considered for appointment. These competitions must be sanctioned by the National Sports Federation and the Ministry of Sports. Those who have participated in national competitions organized by Indian Olympic Association and won medals up to third position will also be considered for appointment.
According to the order, preference will be given in appointments to those who have participated and won medals in senior-junior level national championships and games.
