New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the Citizenship Amendment Act will not be withdrawn regardless of opposition. In an interview given to the media, he clarified his firm stand. Amit Shah added that states cannot stay away from implementing the law.
The Citizenship Amendment Act will never be withdrawn. It is their firm decision to grant citizenship to the minorities of other countries. Never give up on this. The campaign claims that the implementation of the law will put India’s minorities at risk. But that is wrong. The law will never affect minorities in India. Amit Shah stated that the law only provides rights to Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, Sikh, Christian and Parsi refugees in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The opposition alleges that the BJP is creating a vote bank by introducing the Citizenship Act. Even when the excess power of Jammu and Kashmir was removed, these people were spreading the word that there was politics behind it. Opposition leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Asaduddin Owaisi and Arvind Kejriwal are telling political lies. Amit Shah also said that it was in BJP’s manifesto that the Citizenship Amendment Act would be implemented during the last election.
The law passed in 2019 was delayed due to the Corona situation. Therefore, the argument that the law was implemented for the purpose of elections is irrelevant. Delhi Chief Minister is spreading lies about the law. It is said that states including Kerala will not implement the law. But states are not allowed to sit back and not implement the law. Amit Shah also explained that it is believed that everyone will cooperate with the law after the election.
