American farmers are facing losses due to wheat and rice subsidies in India

Washington: Sen. Ron Wyden, Chairman of the Senate Committee on US Finance Department, has accused India that the subsidies being given on wheat and rice in India influence the market prices, causing loss to American farmers. In such a situation, it is becoming difficult for American farmers to survive in the Asian market. 

Catherine Tye, a top trade official in the Biden government, told US lawmakers that India has opened its market to the US agricultural industry in 12 different categories. He expressed concern over subsidies on wheat and rice in India and stressed the importance of enforcing trade rules to protect American farmers and businesses. He said we are opening up the market to hard-working American families and rural areas. In the last three years, our government has worked to increase the new agricultural market value to US$ 21 billion. He further said that trade should be in the interest of all Americans. Our goal is to get Americans to stop fighting against each other over US trade policy. That’s why we’re taking extraordinary steps to include as many voices as possible in trade policymaking.
