No Alliance for AAP in Haryana Assembly Polls: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has made a big announcement regarding the Haryana Assembly elections to be held in October and has made it clear that it is going to contest the elections alone instead of All India Alliance. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, AAP MP Sanjay Singh and Dr. Sandeep Pathak announced this in a press conference in Chandigarh.
The Aam Aadmi Party will fight the upcoming assembly elections in Haryana with full force and contest all seats, party leaders announced in Chandigarh on Thursday, leaving no scope for any alliance there.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that the people of Haryana want their “son Kejriwal” to form the government in the state because Kejriwal is from Haryana. Mann also released the party’s slogan for the elections: “Badlenge Haryana ka hal, ab laayenge Kejriwal”.
Mann said that now AAP is a national party and has governments in two states – Delhi and Punjab. The party has MLAs in Gujarat and Goa as well as Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs. It also has presence in local bodies.
He said, “People from all over the country are liking us. Kejriwal is from Haryana and people of Haryana are proud that one of them (Kejriwal) went to Delhi and contested elections and changed the politics of the entire country. People of Haryana requested him to contest elections there because they want change. We have a good presence in all democratic institutions. Assembly elections are going to be held in Haryana soon. We have decided that the party will contest Haryana elections with full strength. We have governments in Delhi and Punjab. Half of Haryana touches Punjab and half touches Delhi…people want us to contest elections. The state gave a chance to all parties, but none of them remained loyal to Haryana. All of them looted the state and now people want change…”
People of Haryana want change
He said the culture of Haryana is similar to that of Delhi and Punjab and some people are aware of the work of Delhi and some of Punjab and ‘they want these changes in Haryana too’.
He said, ‘We have proved that our team is very good and we know how to fight as a team.’
Double engine government for 10 years, still no development
It is important to note that in the 2019 elections, the AAP contested 46 out of 90 seats in the state and failed to secure even one per cent votes in all. The party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that for the last 10 years, there has been a double-engine government in the state.
He said, “This is not my world but the Prime Minister’s world. This is a very important question that what has the double engine government given to the state.”
On why AAP took this decision, Singh said that the state has seen and tested all the parties.
Criticising the Agneepath scheme, Singh said, “We have seen how the state has been plagued by extortion, violence, unemployment and farmers’ distress.” He said he would demand the withdrawal of the scheme for Agniveers. “People have expectations from AAP, as we have proved in Delhi three times and in Punjab in two years.”
He said people will give a reply to all the parties looting the state in this election. Singh’s colleague in Rajya Sabha and AAP national general secretary Sandeep Pathak also said the party will contest all seats and all booths. He said the state has a lot of expectations from its son Kejriwal. He also said the party will hold a town hall on July 20 and give Kejriwal’s guarantee for the state. AAP chief Kejriwal is in jail in the alleged liquor scam. He is awaiting bail. The term of the Haryana assembly will end in October.
