Many allies of Modi government are happy with the decision of Dalit sub-quota while many are unhappy

New Delhi: Chirag Paswan of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and RPI chief Ramdas Athawale, who are colleagues in PM Narendra Modi’s cabinet, are not happy with the Supreme Court’s decision on Dalit sub-quota. Both the Union ministers are calling this decision as one that will divide Dalits and end reservation. On the other hand, most of the NDA allies are happy with this decision and are supporting it.

Telugu Desam Party is at the top among those who support it. HAM Party President in Bihar and Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has not said anything in this matter, but it is believed that he is also happy with this decision. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has been a supporter of Dalit reservation sub-quota for a long time. The concept of separate reservation for Mahadalits among Dalits is his. BJP is now facing the problem of whether to support this decision or oppose it. The way parties are taking a stand against the Supreme Court’s decision, it seems that BJP will have to clarify its stand soon. If this does not happen, BJP’s voters will once again get confused. BJP may have to face a double whammy due to not taking a stand on this issue till now. On one hand, Dalits will feel that BJP is behind this decision and on the other hand, the party may be deprived of the benefit of Samajwadi Party and Congress’ silence.

BJP is confused about these things and is not giving any official statement on Dalit sub-quota till now. Congress is also waiting for BJP’s stand. Two Congress CMs have welcomed Dalit sub-quota. Telangana and Karnataka are ready to implement it. Still, Congress can oppose it. BJP supporter Dilip Mandal is opposing the Supreme Court’s decision. On the other hand, RSS’s Twitter handle is supporting this decision.
