Legendary philanthropist Ratan Tata passes away at 86 after recent health complications

New Delhi: Ratan Tata, the esteemed chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, has died at the age of 86. On Monday, the renowned industrialist dismissed health rumors in a social media post, stating he was undergoing routine medical investigations related to his age.

“It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation,” said N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, in a heartfelt statement.

“For the Tata Group, Mr. Tata was more than a chairperson. To me, he was a mentor, guide, and friend. He inspired by example. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, and innovation, the Tata Group under his stewardship expanded its global footprint while always remaining true to its moral compass,” Chandrasekaran added.

PM Narendra Modi has also expressed his remose with series of tweets, penning down the significance of a visionary like late Ratan Tata.

Ratan Tata served as chairman of the $100 billion conglomerate from 1991 to 2012. He was instrumental in founding Tata Teleservices in 1996 and taking Tata Consultancy Services public in 2004. Under his guidance, the Tata Group acquired British car brands Jaguar and Land Rover, showcasing its global aspirations. Notably, in 2009, he introduced the Tata Nano, aimed at providing a budget-friendly vehicle for the middle class.

Though Ratan Tata stepped back from daily operations, he continued to lead various charitable trusts, ensuring his commitment to social responsibility. He remained a beloved figure on social media, advocating for animal rights and inspiring millions. Ratan Tata’s enduring legacy will be felt for generations, as his vision and philanthropic efforts have left an indelible mark on society.
